Fairtrade Fortnight 2016

Events and what you can do

The theme for Fairtrade Fortnight 2016 is THE BIG BREAKFAST.  All around the country Fairtrade Big Breakfasts will take place during the Fortnight from 29 February until 13 March.  In St Andrews we are jointly organising a VERY LATE BIG BREAKFAST with the university Fairtrade group on Thursday 3 March at 7.30pm in the Student Association building in St Marys Place (upstairs from the Rector's Cafe).  Fairtrade drinks and food will be available and there will be a talk by Martin Rhodes, Director of Scottish Fair Trade Forum on 'Campaigning for Trade Justice'.  All are welcome - it promises to be fun and insightful.  The University Fair Trade group have lots of events during Fairtrade Fortnight.

Look out for the St Andrews Fairtrade flag flying from the town hall flag pole during the fortnight - this is a first.

If you want to have your own Big Breakfast in your church or community group or want to hold one for your friends, let us know and we will add you to the national tally of Big Breakfasts.  All you need to qualify is to serve one FT beverage and one FT food to qualify.  Come on - join in.

And this is all about making sure we remember the importance of Fair Trade and continue throughout the year to look for Fair Trade products and support them.
