Read previous Minutes of 13 August 2009.

1. Matters arising from last minutes

·        MR to contact V. Murrie re. provision of Fairtrade refreshments at St Andrews Community Hospital.  Currently Fairtrade tea, coffee, sugar and biscuits are available in the cafe, and it may be possible after discussion to extend the range.

·        PR had found out who to contact at Fife Council re. the Petherum Bridge flower bed.

·        The Bus Station now has a certificate, and MP hopes soon to deliver one to the R&A Club manager (both workplace users of Fairtrade products).

·        Finders had been distributed with tea/coffee sachets etc at the Student Societies Fair in late September, and also distributed round the town centre between 30 Sept and 3 Oct.  This had gone fairly well though generally it is felt that handing out leaflets and free samples is easier from a stall.

2. The Banner

·        A vertical indoors banner designed by J. Robinson had been produced by Reprographics at the University: costs were £30 to JR, and £253 to Reprographics.

·        MP to contact organiser of forthcoming People’s Summit (7 Nov in St Andrews) to see if it can be used at the Students’ Union venue.

3. The Website

·        MP reported that our website has now moved to the new cheaper provider and that plans for up-dating it are progressing.

·        MP/AP to help reorganise AC’s e-mail to make it easier to access.

4. Finances

·        PR reported that we currently have £231.  To be debited from this is £30 for JR; AS for production of certificates; PR for printing of finders (latter two not yet invoiced); website costs.

·        Accounts for last year had been audited by I. Murray.

·        PR had informed SFTF about the funds spent as arranged on the banner and will send a photograph of it to SFTF.

5. Anniversary

·        Menu competition had been advertised on the finders, in St Andrews in Focus, at Cameron, St Leonard’s and Hope Park churches.  MR to inquire about Holy Trinity Church, and the Oxfam shop, taking some finders.

·        MR to write a piece to send to Courier and Citizen advertising the competition.

6. Open 2010

·        MP had received confirmation that Sodexo will use Fairtrade tea, coffee and sugar at all refreshment venues at the Old Course, and that our Fairtrade Town logo will be used alongside their own.

·        Use of further Fairtrade products will be considered, possibly with input from University procurement list.

·        Our publicity should be produced just prior to the Open, possibly involving SFTF and The Scotsman.

7. Fife Fair Trade Forum

·        MR, PR and MP gave a brief update on the Fife Forum’s schools’ competition to design a logo for FFTF.

·         Fair Trade Christmas Market to be held at Lomond Centre, Glenrothes (28 Nov.) has necessitated acquiring Public Liability insurance: this does however not cover individual Fairtrade Towns or groups within Fife.

8. Fairtrade Fortnight

·        MR to contact B. Reed of SFTF to enquire about possibility of a speaker coming to St Andrews.

9. AOB

·        A Fairtrade day is being held in Edinburgh on 14/21 November.

·        PR had noticed out of date information about our campaign in the enclosed notice board at Church Square.

·        MP is to speak to a group at Hope Park church on 25 January 2010.

·        MR to send minutes to possible student rep. at One World Society.

10. Date of next meeting

Date of next meeting :  Thurs 21 January 2010, at Lawhead of Radernie at 7.30pm
