Matters arising from last minutesMR had contacted L. Main re. information about the Leuchars fair trade monthly fair to publicise it on our website; AS to send his information about this to MP. No response had been received re. contestants for the ‘Come Dine with me’ ITV program. 2. A.G.M. BusinessPM took the chair and the following was proposed (AS) and seconded (MP): the four office bearers should continue as before, i.e. Chair – A. Curteis; Vice-chair – A. Marks; Treasurer – P. Robinson; Secretary – M. Robinson. No changes to the constitution were proposed. Financial Report - PR distributed the balance sheet and reported that income over the year had been £22, and outgoings were nil, giving a total of £118. 29 in the bank. The accounts had been audited by I. Murray. 3. CertificatesNone currently need to be handed out. MR to contact StAndy’s Letting to ask if a paper version is required. 4. – MR had received a reply
from their HQ confirming their concern about ethical trading and
acknowledging
the demand for Fairtrade products, which they do sometimes stock in
their
stores. New shop in
5. 2010 Open
MP had received no reply from R&A re. possibility of
using Fairtrade products in 2010, so will seek an interview to
discuss the issues. AC to contact R. Waterstone, R. Yarr and
S
Horsman re. support for this endeavour. 6. Fairtrade Meeting in Glenrothes
MR
and F. Grant are currently
compiling a list of people who might be interested in attending the
meeting in
Glenrothes on 16 September, to talk about Fairtrade issues in 7. St Andrews Festival WeekMR suggested holding a competition for children and adults to design a webpage explaining why Fairtrade matters. Possible question is 'Why buy Fairtrade?', to be answered in words and pictures on an A4 sheet or as a pdf file, suitable for posting on our website. AC to find out if this would be feasible for primary schools before going any further. Letter and publicity to be sent to schools and local press and winners to be announced in Festival Week. AS suggested holding a competition in future for gap year students for best report on benefits of/need for Fairtrade. Funding for promotion and prizes would have to be sought.
