Apologies

No apologies

1. Matters arising from last minutes

AC had found a report in the Dundee Courier from 27.02.08 re. our Fairtrade Fortnight programme, illustrated with a photo of a Fairtrade Mad Hatter’s Tea Party held by Anstruther Coop.

MP reported problems in accessing the new website set up by A. Popple because of restrictions imposed by the current service provider, and will investigate cost of improving this.

2. ITV programme 'Come dine with me'

MR to contact ITV to find out if any local Fairtrade contestant had been found to take part (as had been hoped).

3. Certificates

AS currently has 5 ‘sold’ and 5 ‘served’ certificates in stock.  MR to forward ‘used here’ certificates to St Andy’s letting agency, both in paper and electronic form.  Dangles also to be offered the latter.

AS to visit Lidl to buy more stock of plastic pouches etc; to be reimbursed from funds.

4. Supermarket Campaign

AC to contact St Andrews Tesco manager re. developments in refitting shop and possibility of having a dedicated area for Fairtrade goods, with a view to contacting our supporters to encourage them to purchase these goods.  Cupar Tesco now stocking Fairtrade sugar again.  Info on what Fairtrade products are kept can be obtained at service desk in Dundee branch; also (perhaps) on website.

Other local supermarkets:  Cupar Lidl has own brand Fairtrade coffee, sugar and juice; Sainsbury’s now have T-shirts in addition to many food items; new Aldi store in St Andrews to be contacted (MR/PR) re. intentions regarding stocking of Fairtrade goods.

5. 2010 Open

AM had received information re. the catering arrangements for Open Championships, which are managed by Sodexo Prestige.  Sodexo website states their policy towards Fairtrade provision.  MP to reply confirming that it is apparently up to the client to request that Fairtrade products are used or made available during the Open.

Other possible ways to advertise and promote Fairtrade during the St Andrews Open were discussed.  AC to contact Lawhead PS and the University; MP to check with organisers of Chelsea Flower Show regarding their pro-Fairtrade catering arrangements.

6. SFTF leaflets

AC had received c. 50 2008 leaflets from SFTF, and had distributed some to the library, some cafes and churches with Fairtrade stalls.

7. Fife FTF

MR to contact F. Grant re. possible meeting in Glenrothes in August.

8. Event for St Andrews Festival

Various possibilities were discussed; all to think further about this and MR to check FTF website for suggestions for competitions etc.

9. AOB

AS to contact Leuchars Parish Church offering to help publicise the proposed Fairtrade/local produce stall if this is put into effect, by including information about it on our website, directories etc.

AC had attended a lunch given by WECAN! and the Diet for Fife Project.

10. Date of next meeting

AGM will be held on Mon 18 August, 7.30 pm at 40 Lawmill Gardens.  AM to check whether PM will be available that day.  Alternative date: Thurs 21 August.
