Fairtrade status and declaration

  • The application for Fairtrade Town status had been submitted, and it was expected that we will be able to declare achievement of this as planned in November.
  • Discussion with the Community Council is continuing regarding a possible November 30th event in the Victory Memorial Hall, for which possible speakers are to be approached.
  • Promotion of Fairtrade goods and the town booklet is anticipated during a one-hour event, with light refreshments.
  • MR to apply for advertising in St Andrews Festival literature, once venue is decided.

Grants

Progress with grant applications was discussed:

  • HLF application in progress, to be submitted once a bank account has been set up, requesting c. £1000 to cover printing cost of booklet.
  • Seedcorn Grant of £150 has been awarded to cover costs of website and more sample sachets of Fairtrade tea and coffee: AC to ask for a cheque.
  • Community Dividend Award application for £500 has been submitted, to cover costs of declaration event, and towards costs of booklet.
  • 200 Club and the Community Council Trust: AC to contact P.Lindsey, Secretary of Community Council, about these possibilities, probably once the outcome of the other applications is known.

Fairtrade Town Booklet

  • Prices had been received from West Port Print & Design for an 8-page and 12-page booklet.
  • It was decided to have an 8-page directory of local products, with front and back covers, giving 12 sides in total.
  • BR to liaise with J. Robinson regarding possible front cover designs.
  • AC, PR, MR and AS to submit any ideas for text.
  • BR to take some photographs of local Fairtrade stalls etc.
  • BR and MR to liaise with printers regarding price estimate.

Bank Account

BR has completed application to Co-operative Bank, requesting a prompt response.

Any Other Business

  • AC to send BR up-dated information for web-site directory.
  • BR to buy web space for a new website by the end of August.
